We’ll first things first, it is not going to be necessary a great development skills, it’s more oriented to designers just a little bit familiar with CSS & HTML. No PHP or JavaScript is needed at all, altough it would be interesting in order to get the most out from this tutorial.

So after a while thinking what could be the best approach, come up with the clear idea that, instead of fighting with WordPress bits and bites, could be more interesting to use a “Starter Theme” that consists in a plain, basic architecture ready to get stylized and personalized.

A “Starter” or “Naked” theme is a very very basic theme, just for the shake of naming it somehow. To be truth, it is just not fair to call it a theme, as it comes with the most  basic appearance possible, sometimes reduced to plain text.

What it is interesting, is that it has the neccesary structure created, so it is like the bones in which you are going to build over your truly own theme.

Let’s see the difference, here you have a nice WordPress full theme on the left, and a naked WordPress theme on the right:

This is a proper WP theme.

This is a WP Naked theme.

Of course, there are themes that come with even more details and features, but “Naked WordPress” is one of the most interesting ones, as the code comes fully commented, and responsive feature is included. You can download it from here: Naked WordPress Theme Download.

Next posts, we’ll do an introduction to start working with this theme.
